AC Milan player Tijjani Reijnders has said that he can become a more complete midfielder at Manchester City.
The 26-year-old is set to become Pep Guardiola’s first signing of the summer after two superb seasons in the Serie A.
Speaking to Voetbalzone and other Dutch media, Reijnders shared that if the deal goes through completely, he can definitely become a better player under the Spaniard.
According to him, there is always room for improvement for every footballer, and while many have accused Pep of making players lose their freedom and creativity, he believes he can step up his game in England.
“Am I afraid that the ‘freedom’ in my game will be lost under Guardiola? We’ll have to wait and see if that happens. There’s always room for development, in every respect, especially as a midfielder. There are so many things you can develop. I can become a more complete midfielder there, if the deal goes through,” he said.
Describing himself as a box-to-box player who is ideal for the modern game, Reijnders disclosed that he is fortunate enough to be a fit player who has the advantage of always being available to be picked by the manager.
On if he has agreed to join Manchester City, the Dutch player clarified that there are still a few details to sort out before everything will be completed.
He, however, noted that it is disrespectful for him to speak about other clubs while he is still an AC milan player.
“I think I’m a modern midfielder. And I’m always fit, which is also an advantage. Fortunately, I’ve always been fit so far and I hope to stay that way for as long as possible.
Is it true that I have already agreed personally? There are still a few final details to be ironed out. It’s a matter of waiting and seeing.
I can’t say any more about it. I am still an AC Milan player and I have to respect that. I’m also waiting to see what the clubs will do,” he added.
