Ogiame Atuwatse III, the esteemed Olu of Warri, has issued a powerful call for national unity and resilience as Nigeria navigates economic and social challenges. In a heartfelt press statement, the traditional ruler emphasized the importance of coming together as a nation, supporting leadership, and engaging in constructive dialogue to secure a brighter future for Nigeria.

The Olu of Warri acknowledged Nigeria’s resilience, pointing out that the nation has overcome numerous challenges that have caused other countries to falter. However, he also recognized the growing frustration among Nigerians as they face persistent economic difficulties.

In response to these challenges, the Olu of Warri urged Nigerians to support President Tinubu’s administration, which he described as offering “sacrificial leadership” during these trying times. He noted that while a global economic recession looms, Nigeria, as a blessed nation, can still thrive through “visible cuts in excessive government spending and a commitment to the welfare of the people.”

The press statement also emphasized the importance of unity, urging Nigerians to put aside ethnic and religious sentiments that may hinder progress. Instead, Ogiame Atuwatse III called for a collective reassessment of the nation’s foundations and structures, advocating for an atmosphere of peace and trust. He believes that this approach will transform resentment into resilience, enabling Nigeria to emerge stronger and more united.

Addressing Nigeria’s youth, whom he described as “the engine room of our country,” the Olu of Warri encouraged them to focus their energies on building a better future. He highlighted the power of dialogue and cooperation as essential tools for achieving lasting change, appealing to young Nigerians to work towards common goals for the nation’s development and prosperity.

“The pains and frustrations of Nigerians are valid, and these voices should not be ignored or taken for granted,” the statement reads. “But let us channel our energies towards constructive dialogue and engagements.”

The Olu of Warri also touched on the spiritual aspect of Nigeria’s journey, asserting that the land recognizes just actions. By safeguarding the rights and well-being of all citizens, particularly minorities, he believes that Nigeria can lay a spiritual foundation that will lead to its exaltation. This commitment to justice and equity transcends ethnic, religious, and other divisions, emphasizing the importance of every Nigerian’s well-being.

In closing, the statement calls for unity and resilience, expressing hope for a future where Nigeria can achieve its potential as a prosperous and harmonious nation. “Our resilience is the beacon of our hope,” the statement concludes, invoking blessings upon Nigeria and its people.

Ogiame Atuwatse III’s message is a timely reminder of the strength that lies in unity and the potential for Nigeria to overcome its current challenges through collective effort and determination.

The statement

“Our nation Nigeria is a house that does not require demolition but rather a collective reassessment of its foundations and the structures that sustain it. This reassessment must be devoid of ethnic or religious sentiments that may hinder our path in the right direction. It must be done in an atmosphere of peace and trust. The energy that is brought to this very important moment in our history is most important, and we must get it right.

“Nigerians are a truly blessed and resilient people. Several times in our sojourn, it has been made evident that other nations have fallen at things that Nigeria is miraculously able to regain its balance and carry on.

“However, with each passing “recovery”, the patience of the people keeps getting stretched.
This is a good opportunity for everyone to unite behind our president and his government, as they step up to show sacrificial leadership. And while there is truly a global economic recession, because we are a blessed people, we can symbolically dig wells in a famine season, that yields severalfold during the times of plenty, which will surely come.

“There are global examples, where visible cuts in excessive government spending and a commitment to the welfare of the people have begun to restore faith in leadership. Visible actions that prioritize the well-being of the people will transform resentment into resilience.
These nations have done it. Nigeria can do better than these nations, and Nigeria will do better.

“The pains and frustrations of Nigerians are valid, and these voices should not he ignored or taken for granted. But let us channel our energies towards constructive dialogue and engagements. Protests, while a powerful tool for expression, can sometimes lead to unintended consequences that can further divide us.

“I want to specially appeal to the youth of our great nation. Our youth are the engine room of our country. With vibrant and innovative energy they are the driving force of our Nation. To the great and powerful engine room of Nigeria, my faithful consituents, I want to encourage you to channel your energies into building a brighter future for our country Nigeria. One where dialogue and cooperation pave the way for lasting change. Together we will achieve the development and prosperity that we as a Nation not only aspire to but are capable of. Our collective strength lies in our ability to unite & work towards common goals for the Nation.

“As a traditional and natural ruler in this country, the spiritual aspect cannot be ignored. The land is alive, and it knows when actions taken are just. Should these actions be taken, and the Nigerian system commits to safeguarding the rights, property, and well-being of ALL citizens, especially the minority, it will lay a spiritual foundation that will exalt our nation in untold ways. This commitment goes beyond ethnic, religious, or any obvious divisions. It embodies the idea that the well-being of every single Nigerian matters. In doing so, the land and the atmosphere over the country will align and bring about the much-desired relief and upliftment that the entire nation yearns for. May God continue to Bless Nigeria.”
