The Board of Trustees of the Wamufat Youth Community Development Foundation (WYCDF) has appointed Veteran Journalist and Businessman, Ayo Sogbuyi as the Foundation’s new President.
The appointment, confirmed in an official letter signed by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mrs. Fatimoh Muhammed, takes effect from September 15, 2026. Mr. Sogbuyi, who is President and Chairman of Afrika Konnekt News Network (AKNN), has formally accepted the role.
WYCDF is a youth-focused non-profit headquartered in Los Angeles County, California. Its mandate is “Grooming Energetic Youth” and “Empowering Communities Through Education, Mentorship & Support.”
As President, Mr. Sogbuyi will provide overall leadership, vision and governance for the Foundation, and will report to the Board of Trustees. According to his appointment letter, his duties include:
- Providing overall leadership, vision and governance for the Foundation.
- Chairing meetings of the Executive and representing WYCDF to partners, donors and the public.
- Overseeing the officers, programmes and general administration of the Foundation.
- Ensuring the Foundation operates in line with its mission, values and statutory obligations.
In a statement, the Board expressed confidence in Mr. Sogbuyi’s leadership, noting that the appointment comes at a pivotal time as the Foundation scales up its youth development, educational and community support programmes.
