Nollywood actress and African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate in Abia State, Doris Ogala, has been remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre in Lagos over allegations of cyberstalking, cyberbullying and attempted extortion involving Pastor Chris Okafor.
The Federal High Court in Lagos ordered her remand on Wednesday, pending the hearing of her bail application.
Ogala pleaded not guilty to a four-count charge filed against her by the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation.
During the court proceedings, the prosecution counsel, Tolulope Mokolu, alleged that the actress published nude and intimate photographs of Pastor Okafor on social media without his consent.
According to the prosecution, the alleged publication was capable of causing embarrassment, emotional distress and damage to the pastor’s reputation.
The prosecution further accused Ogala of circulating videos, recordings and electronic messages containing information she allegedly knew to be false, with the intention of bullying, threatening, intimidating or harassing the cleric.
In another count, she was accused of threatening to continue publishing menacing and intimate materials relating to Okafor unless he compensated her or bought her a house.
The prosecution said the alleged offences occurred between September 2024 and March 2026 and contravened Section 24 of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Amendment Act 2024.
Defence Requests Bail
Following Ogala’s plea, the prosecution asked the court to remand her while it prepared its response to the bail application filed by the defence.
However, her lawyer, Nathan Atulomah, urged the court to release her on bail, arguing that the decision rested within the court’s discretion.
Atulomah assured the court that his client would attend proceedings whenever required. He also drew attention to her status as a governorship candidate in the forthcoming Abia State election.
The defence lawyer attempted to explain that the dispute between Ogala and Pastor Okafor arose from an alleged failed romantic relationship. However, Justice Akintayo Aluko interrupted him, stating that the explanation was unnecessary at that stage because the court was considering the bail application.
The prosecution opposed her immediate release, explaining that it was still within the period allowed to respond to the application.
In his ruling, Justice Aluko held that the defence had not presented sufficient grounds to justify Ogala’s immediate release.
The judge, however, directed that the bail application be heard expeditiously and adjourned the case until October 30, 2026.
Ogala Accuses Government Officials And Clerics Of Oppression
Following the ruling, tension arose in the courtroom when Ogala insisted on addressing the court despite attempts by her lawyer and others to calm her.
The actress protested her remand, alleging that government power was being used against her because of her relationship with Pastor Okafor.
“I must talk; this is Nigeria, they are using government power to oppress me. My boyfriend is using government power to oppress me,” she reportedly shouted.
The disturbance continued until Justice Aluko rose from the proceedings for the day.
In a subsequent post on Instagram, Ogala accused religious figures Jerry Eze and Suleman Johnson, Pastor Okafor and Abia State Governor Alex Otti of being responsible for her remand.
She alleged that the individuals were acting against her because they feared she might disclose information about them.
“Jerry Eze, Suleman Johnson and Chris Okafor are responsible for my remand. Alex Oti is fully behind my remand as well. They are afraid of their secret I know. All of them are responsible, believe me,” she wrote.
However, the allegations made by Ogala against the named individuals have not been established in court.
How The Dispute Between Ogala And Okafor Started
The disagreement between the actress and Pastor Okafor became public in December 2025, following the circulation of a video showing the cleric’s engagement to another woman.
Ogala subsequently accused the pastor of ruining her life, claiming that she had been in a relationship with him since 2017.
The dispute later escalated, leading to allegations involving the circulation of the pastor’s private photographs and other materials. Authorities subsequently arrested and detained the actress over the matter.
The latest court proceedings form part of the ongoing legal dispute between the actress and the cleric.
Ogala remains at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre pending further proceedings, while the Federal High Court is expected to hear her bail application on October 30, 2026.
The case is expected to determine whether she will be granted bail as the legal process continues.
