The Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN), under the leadership of its President, Mr. Uche Agbo, is set to collaborate with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) via its Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) initiative as part of the guild’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes.
This is coming following a courtesy visit by the DGN leadership to the NYSC Director-General, Brigadier-General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, at the NYSC Headquarters in Abuja.
According to Emmanuel Eyaba, Public Relations Officer, Directors Guild of Nigeria, the visit centred around talks on how Nollywood can aid youth empowerment by equipping corps members with crucial filmmaking, storytelling, and digital content creation skills.
Speaking during the meeting, Mr. Uche Agbo emphasised the Directors Guild of Nigeria’s determination to support youth development.
“The creative industry is one of the fastest-growing sectors in the world. Through this partnership with NYSC under the SAED programme, we aim to provide corps members with relevant skills in filmmaking and media that will not only empower them for self-reliance but also contribute to nation-building,” he said.
Responding, Brigadier-General Oluseye Nafiu hailed DGN’s thoughtful gesture, assuring the guild of NYSC’s commitment to organizing programs that align with SAED’s mission of readying corps members for life after service year through skill acquisition and business training.
The collaboration will deliver specialized training modules for corps members across the country, offering opportunities for mentorship, skill-building, and access to the thriving Nollywood and creative industry.
