MonieWorld, the international money transfer service from Moniepoint Inc, has named acclaimed Nigerian filmmaker Funke Akindele as its brand ambassador, citing alignment on values of reliability, progress, and maintaining connections with Nigerians living overseas.
The fintech company explained that the partnership underscores its commitment to serving diaspora Nigerians who juggle financial obligations across multiple countries while staying connected to their roots. According to MonieWorld, its platform was designed to facilitate what it calls the “dual financial life” by enabling frictionless money transfers between Nigeria and countries where Nigerians have relocated.
Ravi Jakhodia, CEO of MonieWorld, explained that Akindele’s career trajectory and cross-border influence made her an ideal fit for the brand.
“Progress only begins when it’s powered by ambition, community, and purpose,” Jakhodia stated. “Funke Akindele represents these qualities perfectly. Her professional path mirrors the foundations MonieWorld is built on: dependability, trustworthiness, and authentic engagement with the communities that supported her rise. From her box office success in Nigeria to record-breaking achievements in the UK and Ireland, her impact crosses borders. MonieWorld was created for individuals like her—people establishing lives in multiple countries, learning new systems, yet maintaining strong roots at home.”
The company’s platform enables Nigerians residing abroad, especially those in the United Kingdom, to transfer funds to Nigeria, provide for family members, and handle international financial transactions through instant processing and competitive exchange rates. MonieWorld operates on Moniepoint’s established financial technology infrastructure.
Akindele said the collaboration reflects her personal principles and professional experience.
“Joining MonieWorld feels like a natural fit,” she remarked. “I’ve always championed progress built on dedication and trustworthiness. MonieWorld embodies these same principles by ensuring geography doesn’t limit opportunity. This partnership resonates because we both understand what it means to create something truly useful for people—making a real difference for Nigerians living overseas. It’s about having the flexibility to shape your future regardless of location, and that vision aligns with my own path and the narratives I bring to life.”
Dolapo Omotoso, MonieWorld’s Head of Growth, emphasized the company’s focus on enabling customers to establish themselves internationally while maintaining financial ties with Nigeria.
Since its April 2025 launch, MonieWorld reports receiving strong customer feedback regarding transaction speed and service dependability.
