Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has clarified that he had no involvement in the donation of a car and shop to Kaduna-based TikTok content creator Rahama Saidu.
In a statement released Sunday by his spokesperson, Abubakar Bawa, the governor explained that the donation—which went viral on social media—was a personal gesture by an individual named Sanin Jaman, who wanted to appreciate Saidu for her online support of the current administration.
“I want to make it categorically clear that the said donation has nothing to do with Governor Ahmed Aliyu. It was purely personal between the two of them – the giver and the beneficiary,” the statement read.
The governor cautioned against unauthorized donations made in his name or that of the state government, noting that such actions could mislead the public.
“There are proper and more impactful ways through which support can be provided to benefit residents of the state,” Governor Aliyu said.
The statement also drew attention to the administration’s nine-point SMART agenda, which prioritizes insecurity, moral education, support for vulnerable populations, youth empowerment, environmental sanitation, education, and healthcare.
Governor Aliyu pointed out that many displaced persons affected by banditry and other vulnerable residents across Sokoto still require urgent assistance. He encouraged private individuals and organizations to channel their support toward these critical needs.
“We have many displaced persons, especially in areas affected by banditry and even within the metropolis, who are in dire need of assistance. Despite the various interventions already provided by the state government, there is still room for individuals and corporate bodies to support these efforts,” he added.
