Popular media personality Rufai Oseni has strongly criticised Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun over widespread errors affecting students’ registration for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in the state.
The controversy stems from complications in the digital registration process, which many stakeholders have described as cumbersome and poorly coordinated.
Reports indicate that multiple migrations between education management portals have created significant data inconsistencies for students preparing to sit the examination. Sources said the Ogun State Ministry of Education previously operated a portal known as Edutam about four years ago. Two years later, students’ records were moved to another platform called OGSERA, before being transferred again this year to a new system identified as DIPER.
These repeated migrations have reportedly triggered numerous errors, including students being placed in the wrong classes and, in some cases, entirely missing from the WASSCE registration database.
Reacting to the development, Oseni accused the state government of incompetence in handling a crucial educational process, arguing that the administrative lapses could jeopardise the academic future of affected students.
The situation has sparked concern among parents and education stakeholders, who are urging the Ogun State government to urgently resolve the issues and streamline the registration system to prevent further disruption to candidates preparing for the WASSCE examinations.
