President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the posting of 65 ambassadors to Nigerian diplomatic missions across the world, including the United Nations.
The list comprises 31 non-career ambassadors and 34 career diplomats who will represent Nigeria in various countries and international organisations.
The announcement was made on Friday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a statement.
According to the statement, the deployments followed the confirmation of the ambassadorial nominees by the Nigerian Senate in December last year.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already received diplomatic approval (agrément) from the United Kingdom for Nigeria’s High Commissioner-designate, Ambassador Aminu Dalhatu.
Similarly, the government of France has granted agrément for Ambassador Ayodele Oke.
The ministry has also forwarded the names of the remaining envoys to their respective host countries to obtain the necessary diplomatic clearance in line with international practice.
President Tinubu has further directed the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Nigeria) to begin an induction programme for the ambassadors and high commissioners before they assume duty.

Career Diplomats
The approved list of career ambassadors includes postings to countries such as Egypt, Italy, India, Belgium, Switzerland, Malaysia, Kenya, Morocco, Iran, and several African missions including Ghana, Algeria, Burkina Faso, and Namibia.
The postings are expected to strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic presence and international relations across key regions of the world.
