Former Kano State Governor and senator, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has formally joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The development was confirmed on Monday as Kwankwaso received his party membership card in Kano. He completed his registration at his residence in Gidan Kwankwasiyya, located along Miller Road in Bompai.
The event attracted several notable political figures, including David Mark, Aminu Tambuwal, Rotimi Amaechi, Peter Obi, Dino Melaye, and John Odigie-Oyegun, alongside key leaders of the ADC who gathered ahead of the official defection.
Kwankwaso’s move comes shortly after his resignation from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), which he announced in a statement he personally signed on Sunday.
In the statement, the former presidential candidate explained that his decision was influenced by recent shifts in Nigeria’s political landscape, which he said necessitated a new direction.
He also expressed appreciation to the NNPP for the opportunity to serve as its national leader and represent the party in the 2023 presidential election.
