Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State have unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Dauda Lawal for second terms ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was made on Saturday, April 25, 2026, during a high-level stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government House in Gusau. The gathering brought together four former governors of the state, serving and former political office holders, party elders, as well as youth and women representatives from all 14 local government areas.
Governor Lawal described the meeting as significant and timely, noting that political activities ahead of 2027 were beginning to gather momentum. He said his decision to join the APC was a strategic step aimed at repositioning Zamfara State, strengthening ties with the federal government, and advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He expressed appreciation to stakeholders for their continued support and urged party leaders to manage expectations, stressing that not all political demands could be met at once. According to him, leadership is defined by service, fairness, and contribution to development rather than positions alone.
Lawal also assured that his administration would continue to uphold principles of equity, justice, and inclusiveness, while calling for discipline and loyalty within the party.
A communiqué read by the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, a former governor of the state, confirmed the stakeholders’ unanimous backing for both Tinubu and Lawal. It also highlighted discussions on party unity, governance coordination, security challenges, and preparations for the 2027 elections.
All four former governors of Zamfara State—Ahmed Sani Yarima, Mahmuda Aliyu Shinkafi, Abdul’aziz Yari, and Bello Mohammed Matawalle—were present and reaffirmed their commitment to the APC and the re-election campaigns of both the President and the Governor.
