Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has directed security agencies to launch an immediate investigation into the reported kidnapping incident at the Vegetable Market located along Airport Road in Benin City.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Patrick Akhere Ebojele, the governor strongly condemned the abduction, describing it as a disturbing attack on innocent citizens and a threat to public safety.
Okpebholo instructed the Edo State Commissioner of Police to ensure a swift and coordinated response aimed at rescuing the victims and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
The governor stressed that his administration would not tolerate criminal activities capable of undermining peace and security in the state, reiterating his commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Edo.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities or movements to the nearest police station, noting that timely information from the public is crucial to the success of ongoing security operations.
Reaffirming his administration’s resolve to tackle insecurity, Okpebholo assured residents that the government would continue to work closely with security agencies until those responsible for the kidnapping are arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
