The Presidency has dismissed criticism from opposition parties over President Bola Tinubu’s administration, insisting that the President never promised Nigerians that the country’s challenges would be completely resolved within three years.

Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, said transforming the country was a gradual process that could not realistically be completed within a single four-year tenure.

Dare made the remarks in a statement shared on X on Monday while responding to what he described as the opposition’s persistent criticism of the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

According to him, opposition parties have focused on attacking the administration’s policies and achievements without presenting convincing alternatives or a clear plan for governing the country.

“Campaigning against the results and impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda is now their stock in trade. No original ideas. No blueprint,” Dare stated.

He stressed that Tinubu never promised to turn Nigeria into an ideal society within three years, noting that countries generally require sustained efforts over several years to overcome deep-rooted economic and social challenges.

“President Tinubu did not promise Eldorado in three years. No country solved its challenges in four years. It’s always a journey,” he added.

The presidential aide maintained that the administration would continue to defend what it considers the achievements of Tinubu’s government while explaining its policies and reforms to Nigerians.

He said the government was focused on rebuilding the foundations of the Nigerian economy and urged citizens to understand that the process would take time.

Dare further accused those seeking to take over political power of offering little beyond their desire for control.

“We will make Nigerians understand deeply that the rebuilding of the pillars of our economy is ongoing, and those eager to gain power are desperadoes who have nothing to offer except their greed for power,” he said.

The Presidency has continued to defend Tinubu’s economic reforms amid criticism from opposition figures and groups over their impact on Nigerians.
