The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Olori Halima Tejuoso over an alleged N600 million fraud involving Mrs Mary Oluwaseye Sholoye and Mallam Ibrahim Gidado.
Tejuoso was arrested on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, after allegedly failing to honour an invitation from the anti-graft agency following her release on administrative bail.
EFCC spokesman, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the arrest, saying Tejuoso was taken into custody after allegedly breaching the conditions of the administrative bail earlier granted to her.
According to the commission, Gidado, who is also connected to the investigation, had previously been arrested and arraigned before a court.
Tejuoso is accused of obtaining approximately N600 million from Sholoye under false pretences in connection with Gidado.
During an earlier appearance before the EFCC, Tejuoso reportedly told investigators that Gidado had allegedly defrauded her of the same money she was accused of collecting from Sholoye.
However, after Gidado was arrested and the commission invited Tejuoso for further questioning, she allegedly failed to appear and could not be reached by investigators.
The EFCC subsequently declared her wanted on April 27, 2026, as part of its investigation into the alleged fraud.
Her arrest on September 15 ends several months of efforts by the commission to locate her.
The EFCC is expected to continue its investigation into the alleged N600 million transaction and the roles played by Tejuoso, Gidado and Sholoye.
The commission had earlier taken legal action against Gidado, while further legal proceedings concerning Tejuoso are expected to follow after the completion of the investigation and other required processes.
The allegations against Tejuoso have not been proven in court. She is presumed innocent unless and until found guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
