Nigerian singer Peter Okoye has revealed that he now celebrates his birthday on November 30 instead of November 18, saying the original date had become emotionally difficult for him.
The singer made this known during an interview on the Capital XTRA Podcast, where he explained that he had spent about 13 years associating November 18 with gossip, tension and uncomfortable situations.
Peter said people often visited his twin brother, Paul Okoye, before coming to him, claiming that discussions about him took place during those visits.
According to the singer, the situation gradually made celebrating their shared birthday uncomfortable, despite the fact that he and Paul were born on the same day.
Peter said, “I changed my birthday from November 18th to November 30th because for 13 years, it’s been the worst day of my life. People go to Paul’s house to gossip about me before coming to my side. I wish I could change it on my documents and passport.”
The revelation comes amid the long-running disagreement between the two members of the former music duo, P-Square.
Peter and Paul first went their separate ways in 2017 before reuniting in 2021. However, their partnership later broke down again in 2024.
Peter’s latest comments highlight the personal impact the prolonged disagreement has had on the brothers and their shared birthday celebrations.
