Faith-based Nollywood movie Agbára Nlá: The Return, produced by filmmaker Mike Bamiloye, has grossed ₦408.3 million at the Nigerian box office, maintaining its position as the number-one film for four consecutive weekends.
The film’s distributor, Nile Entertainment, announced the latest milestone on Monday, October 26, thanking Nigerians for their continued support.
According to the distributor, the movie has become the highest-grossing film ever released in October and the highest-grossing faith-based film of all time.
In its announcement, Nile Entertainment celebrated the achievement, stating that the production had continued to make history since its release in cinemas.
The latest earnings represent a significant increase from the ₦354.5 million recorded on October 20, when the film was reported to be among the top-performing Nollywood productions of 2026.
Agbára Nlá: The Return premiered in Nigerian cinemas on October 1, following preview screenings that reportedly generated more than ₦71 million and attracted 12,134 admissions.
The film subsequently recorded approximately ₦170.6 million from its previews and opening weekend, making it one of the strongest-opening Nollywood movies outside the December festive season.
Directed by Damilola Bamiloye and Joshua Bamiloye, popularly known as Jay Mikee, the production is a remake of the Christian film classic originally created by their father, Mike Bamiloye, in 1993.
The original movie became a notable production in Nigeria’s Christian film industry. Its English-language adaptation, titled The Ultimate Power, was released in 1994.
The new version tells the story of Muwonleru, a village under the control of Isawuru, a powerful herbalist who exercises considerable influence over the community.
The story follows two Christians, Olaboye and Olatomi, who respond to a call to spread the Gospel in the village. Their mission brings them into conflict with Isawuru as they attempt to challenge his control and introduce Christianity to the community.
Mike Bamiloye reprises his role as Isawuru in the new production. Other cast members include Aanu Abiodun, Philip Olubakin, Remilekun Mosiko, Gloria Mike Bamiloye and David Kola Okeowo.
The film was produced by Chris Odeh, with Mount Zion Film Productions, Sozo Films and Circuits involved in the production. Nile Entertainment is responsible for its theatrical distribution.
Beyond Nigeria, the movie has also secured international cinema screenings, with reports confirming releases in the United Kingdom and Canada.
The film’s continued success highlights the growing commercial potential of faith-based productions in Nigeria’s film industry, as Agbára Nlá: The Return continues to attract audiences and generate revenue in cinemas nationwide.
