Fresh details have emerged surrounding the death of Nigerian gospel singer Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, following a revelation by the Chief Executive Officer of Best of Nollywood (BON), Seun Oloketuyi.
Oloketuyi disclosed that the singer slumped on a staircase and was rushed to different hospitals in an attempt to save his life. However, according to his account, two hospitals reportedly rejected him before a third medical facility accepted him and subsequently confirmed his death.
The revelation has sparked sadness among fans and members of the gospel music community, with many mourning the loss of the young singer whose music had touched the lives of listeners.
The death of Toluwanisings was first announced on Wednesday by Pelumi Olajengbesi, convener of the Coalition of Public Interest Lawyers and Advocates (COPA), in a post on his Instagram page.
While expressing grief over the singer’s death, Olajengbesi called for God’s mercy and lamented the loss of young Nigerians.
Following uncertainty and confusion surrounding the announcement, the family of the deceased later confirmed his death in a statement published on the singer’s official Instagram page.
In his tribute, Oloketuyi expressed deep sorrow over the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death, particularly the reported difficulties encountered while trying to secure medical attention for him.
He described the incident as painful and difficult to accept, recalling how the singer was moved from one hospital to another after he slumped.
Oloketuyi wrote: “How Toluwasings died. DEATH SHAME ON YOU: You slumped on the stairs, and they began rushing you from one hospital to another. The first hospital rejected you, the second hospital rejected you, and by the time you got to the third hospital, they said you were gone.
“This is too painful to believe. A gospel musician whose voice once blessed souls, gone just like that?
“Death, why are you so cruel?
“Rest in peace, Toluwanisings. Your voice may be silent here on earth, but the songs you left behind will continue to speak.”
His account has drawn attention to the circumstances surrounding the singer’s final moments and raised concerns about the reported challenges in obtaining emergency medical attention.
However, the circumstances described by Oloketuyi have not been independently verified in the information available, and no official medical report has been provided to establish the precise cause of death.
Toluwanisings’ death has left fans and admirers mourning the loss of a gospel musician whose songs will continue to serve as a reminder of his contribution to the music community.
