The Lagos State Government has sealed 25 properties in the Ifako-Ijaiye area of the state over various violations of physical planning regulations.
The affected properties were sealed for offences including operating without valid planning permits, carrying out illegal remodelling and embarking on construction projects without obtaining the necessary government approval.
The enforcement exercise was conducted by the Monitoring and Compliance Unit of the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA) following the discovery of several infractions.
According to a statement released by the agency on its Facebook page, some of the violations included excessive building density, failure to comply with approved building plans and ongoing construction activities without the required planning permits.
The agency explained that the affected property owners had previously been issued contravention notices by the relevant district office. However, they failed to comply with the directives, prompting the government to take enforcement action.
The latest operation is part of the Lagos State Government’s ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with physical planning regulations and prevent unauthorised developments across the state.
A similar exercise was carried out in July when the government sealed more than 20 properties in Ikeja Local Government Area over various physical planning violations.
The July enforcement operation was led by the Permanent Secretary, Office of Physical Planning, Olayinka Wasiu, alongside the General Manager of LASPPPA, Kehinde Osinaike, and other government officials.
The affected buildings included landed properties, uncompleted structures and buildings with unauthorised extensions, all found to have violated provisions of the Lagos State Physical Planning Law.
Meanwhile, LASPPPA has advised owners and developers of the affected properties in Ifako-Ijaiye to visit their nearest district office or the agency’s head office at Oba Akinjobi Way, opposite Soho Filling Station, Government Reserved Area, Ikeja, for further directives and necessary action.
The agency reiterated the importance of obtaining valid planning permits and complying with approved building plans before embarking on construction or remodelling projects in Lagos State.
