Nigerian actress and model, Idia Aisien, has revealed her near-fatal experience after surviving a ghastly accident on her birthday vacation in Croatia. On July 6, 2024, what was supposed to be a joyous celebration turned into a life-altering event for the actress, who shared that she broke her leg in three places, leaving her unable to walk.

Taking to her Instagram account, Idia Aisien recounted the traumatic incident and expressed her gratitude for surviving the ordeal. “I broke my leg in three places and couldn’t walk,” she wrote, adding that the experience made her reassess her priorities and focus on what truly matters. During her recovery, Idia was struck by the challenges faced by people with disabilities and decided to take action.

In the wake of her accident, Idia announced plans to launch “FashionAble,” an adaptive clothing label designed for people with disabilities. The line will feature innovative designs such as magnets instead of buttons and zippers, wider pants for those with casts, and shirts with embedded arm braces. The goal is to make life a little easier for those who struggle with everyday tasks due to physical limitations.

Idia also revealed her intention to donate essential equipment like aesthetic boots, wheelchairs, and crutches to centers and homes across Nigeria. Additionally, she plans to work with hospitals and care centres to improve the quality of food and services available to people who are recently disabled or in recovery. Her initiatives will also include funding for medical equipment and support for families who cannot afford proper care for their loved ones with disabilities.

In her heartfelt message, Idia expressed deep gratitude to her family, friends, and well-wishers who supported her during the painful eight-week recovery period. She concluded by stating that her survival has inspired her to give back and make a positive impact on the lives of those in need.

Idia’s story is one of resilience, determination, and a newfound mission to support those who face challenges similar to what she has endured. Her upcoming projects are a testament to her commitment to making a difference in the lives of people with disabilities across Nigeria.

Idia Aisien wrote:

On July 6, 2024, what was supposed to be the best birthday of my life turned out to be one of the most painful experiences I’ve ever had.

I broke my leg in three places and I could no longer walk.
I didn’t know if I’ll be able to do the things I love, but I knew I would begin to do the things that mattered.

I watched how people with disabilities are treated and I wanted to do my part to make life a little bit easier, Because some of the basic things we take for granted were just so hard to do.

-Starting with FashionAble, an adaptive clothing label to supply clothes for people with disabilities — Magnets instead of buttons and zips, wider like pants for people who have casts, shirts with arm braces embedded and much more.
-Second: equipments like aesthetic boots, wheelchairs, crutches, donated to different centers and homes across Nigeria that need them the most.
-Third: working with different hospitals and care centers on the kind of food and menus available to people who are recently disabled or in recovery. You don’t have to be rich; but everybody should have access to a decent meal.
-Fourth: Funding equipments for hospitals and centers to focus on providing faster response, more effective surgeries, and the ability to pay better doctors and consultants to care for people in need.
-And last but certainly not least, donations to help clear the debt of families who are unable to adequately cater to their loved ones with disabilities .

This I believe is one of the reasons I’ve been blessed to come out of this situation alive🙏🏼

To my family and friends who never left my side, all I can say is thank you. It has been an incredibly painful 8weeks; For everyone who messaged, emailed, prayed, and visited. I love you. 💕🫂❤️‍🩹
