Air Peace has responded to media reports regarding an alleged preliminary report by the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) concerning the July 13, 2025, incident involving one of its aircraft in Port Harcourt.
In an official statement, the airline revealed it had not received any formal communication from the NSIB more than a month after the incident occurred, despite crew members undergoing immediate alcohol testing at the time.
The airline highlighted its comprehensive alcohol and drug policies, which exceed standard regulatory requirements, while reaffirming its dedication to maintaining transparency and the highest safety standards.
Air Peace disclosed that it has grounded the flight captain involved in the incident for violating Crew Resource Management (CRM) principles and failing to follow standard go-around procedures that were recommended by the co-pilot. In contrast, the First Officer has been praised for demonstrating professionalism throughout the flight. The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has cleared the First Officer and restored him to active duty status. Air Peace stated this clearance serves as evidence that the First Officer was not involved in any substance use.
