Aviation and Aerospace Development Minister Festus Keyamo has openly acknowledged that the ruling All Progressives Congress is far from a perfect political party but maintains it remains a superior alternative to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.
Keyamo made the remarks on Saturday via his verified X account, where he shared an unedited video clip from a 2017 interview he had previously granted to a blog. The minister said the original footage had been deliberately clipped and circulated out of context by unnamed individuals seeking to misrepresent his position.
“I will be a fool to say APC is a Party of saints,” Keyamo stated bluntly, adding that any politician who describes their own party as saintly would equally be fooling themselves. He emphasized that political parties are human institutions and therefore inherently imperfect by nature.
However, the minister was equally firm in his defence of the APC, arguing that what matters most is not a party’s flaws but the direction it offers the country. In his view, the APC continues to represent Nigeria’s strongest path toward progress and stability.
Keyamo took direct aim at the PDP, warning Nigerians against what he called a return to the old political order. He pointed to several current presidential aspirants as products of the PDP era he believes the country has moved beyond. He also singled out President Bola Tinubu as the one prominent political figure who, in his words, never boarded what he described as the PDP’s “battered train” during that period.
