President Bola Tinubu is set to receive the All Progressives Congress (APC) certificate of return and party flag as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general election on Sunday.
The presentation ceremony will take place at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja after the nationwide collation of results from the APC presidential primary election.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed that the event would be attended by APC governors, members of the National Executive Committee (NEC), the National Working Committee (NWC), lawmakers and other top party officials.
The APC recently concluded its presidential primary election ahead of the 2027 polls, with Tinubu emerging victorious in the direct primary conducted across the country.
The President defeated his only challenger, Osifo Osayamen Stanley, to secure the party’s presidential ticket.
The presentation of the certificate of return and party flag officially confirms Tinubu as the APC’s flagbearer for the next general election.
Speaking after casting his vote during the APC presidential primary at Ikoyi-Obalende Ward L2 in Lagos State, Tinubu described the exercise as evidence of the ruling party’s commitment to internal democracy.
He commended party members for their peaceful conduct and active participation throughout the process.
According to the President, the primaries were well organised from the ward level to the local government stage, while governors and party officials across the states ensured proper delegate accreditation, membership registration and smooth coordination of electoral activities.
Tinubu added that the exercise reflected a strong democratic culture within the APC and allowed members at the grassroots level to take part in the party’s decision-making process.
