The Lagos State Government and the All Progressives Congress have thrown their weight behind Hon Ayo Da-Silva, who has been appointed Deputy Director of the Admin and Logistics Directorate under the APC Campaign Council for Lagos State. The announcement places Da-Silva within the Secretariat Administration and Logistics Directorate, one of several specialised arms the Lagos APC has rolled out as it begins to formalise the machinery expected to coordinate its electioneering activities across the state. The directorate itself is headed by Dr Adekunle Olayinka, who also serves as Campaign Secretary for the council, with Da-Silva stepping in to support the administrative and logistical backbone of the campaign.
This sits within a much broader structure. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu chairs the Lagos APC Campaign Council, with Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat as Deputy Chairman, while former governors Bola Tinubu-era stalwarts Babatunde Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode feature prominently on the advisory side. Former Senator Musiliu Obanikoro was named Director-General of the campaign, assisted by Rasaq Ajala as Deputy Director-General. Beyond the Admin and Logistics Directorate, the council also runs a Legal and Compliance Directorate, a Party and Inter-Party Affairs Directorate, and sub-committees covering Traditional Institutions, Diaspora Engagement, and Residents Associations, Community Development Associations and Estates, with grassroots coordinators mapped out across the state’s 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas. The formal inauguration of the full council is scheduled for 10am on Friday, September 18, 2026, at the APC Secretariat on ACME Road, Ikeja.
Ayo Da-Silva is a Lagos Island-born healthcare professional and technocrat-turned-politician who defected to the APC from the Peoples Democratic Party earlier in 2026, after more than two decades in the PDP. He holds a background in industrial chemistry and healthcare administration, and previously worked as a Regional Director for a Health Maintenance Organisation in Detroit, Michigan, before returning to Nigerian politics. His political career stretches back to his student union days, and he has previously contested for the Lagos West Senatorial seat. His defection, formalised at an event in the Amuwo/Festac axis and received on behalf of the state APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, was described by party leaders as a boost to the APC’s grassroots strength in that corridor.
A note worth flagging for accuracy: some earlier reports on the same campaign council structure identify the Deputy Director of the Admin and Logistics Directorate as “Thomas Da-Silva” rather than “Ayo Da-Silva.” Given how common the Da-Silva surname is in Lagos political and society circles, and that the flyer clearly names “Hon Ayo Da-Silva,” you may want to confirm directly with the APC Lagos Secretariat or Friday’s inauguration proceedings before publishing, to be certain which Da-Silva holds the seat.
