Celebrated Akure, Ondo State-born politician, Barrister Dr. Olumuyiwa Sylvester Adu, has been conferred with the prestigious “Champion of Democracy” Ace of Society Award by Apples Bite Magazine, a leading society and political publication. The award ceremony, held in Akure, celebrated the significant contributions of Barrister Adu to the political and social fabric of the state, and Nigeria as a whole.
Barrister Adu, renowned for his unwavering passion to bring positive change, is a refined politician driven by a deep commitment to the welfare of the people of Ondo State. His illustrious career spans various sectors, including the military, oil and gas, and legal practice.
As a second lieutenant and Chief Security Officer to General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, Adu played a major role in the construction of Aso Rock, Nigeria’s seat of power by Nigerian construction company Julius Berger.
During the award presentation, encomiums were showered on Barrister Adu, recognizing him as a democrat par excellence. Barrister Adu’s journey is a testament to his relentless pursuit of excellence.
Despite securing university admissions, he chose a military career, graduating with flying colors from the Nigerian Defence Academy. His quest for greater heights led him to the oil and gas industry in 1995, where he served as a Security Consultant to a consortium known as TSKJ, the company behind the construction of the Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas Plant in Bonny Island, Rivers State.
Following the completion of the plant, Adu transitioned to work in two accounting firms before returning to full legal practice.
An alumnus of the University of Ibadan and a certified generic leader by Lagos Business School, Adu is also an accredited management trainer by the Center for Management Development. He was the Managing Attorney of Legal Point Limited for many years before rejoining Nigeria LNG Limited as a Gas Transmission System Advisor, eventually rising to the position of Lead Advisor.
