Former footballer and Inter Miami owner David Beckham has said that being knighted was an emotional experience. He recently revealed that the experience meant a lot to him and his family.
Speaking to PEOPLE as part of his partnership with Verizon FIFA 2026, Beckham disclosed that he was not nervous ahead of the ceremony.
According to him, he focused on cherishing the huge honour he was about to receive from his country, and that made it a memorable moment for him and his loved ones.
The Manchester United legend stated that knighthood is an experience he’d cherish for the rest of his life.
“It’s been a very emotional week. I wasn’t nervous, just emotional, as it means so much to me and my family.
It’s such a huge honor to receive, and all-round, it was a very special day for us. It’s a memory I’ll cherish for the rest of my life,” he said.
Recall that the soccer icon was knighted for his services to sport and charity in an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle on Nov. 4.
King Charles hosted the event, known for recognizing individuals for their outstanding contributions to the community.
At the ceremony, David Beckham rocked a custom morning suit designed by his wife, Victoria Beckham, and both were joined by his parents, Ted Beckham and Sandra West.
Victoria wore a classy black dress that she designed for the investiture ceremony and tied her hair into a stylish up-do.
“I have been fortunate to represent our country and I’ve always done that with pride. I love our Royal Family and what it means to people not just in Great Britain but around the world. I could never have dreamed that this would happen to me,” he added on social media.
