Popular Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde’s misconduct has led to the suspension of two ValueJet pilots by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
The veteran singer, who was onboard a ValueJet plane on the 5th of August, was caught drinking from a flask and was immediately questioned by a flight attendant who suspected that the liquid was alcohol – a substance banned onboard aircraft in Nigeria.
According to insiders, Kwam 1 was asked to give up his drink, but he refused, claiming it was a medicine his doctor prescribed.
Reports said that his decision to not surrender the flask forced the flight crew to deboard the music icon. Embarassed, an angry Wasiu Ayinde stood in front of the aircraft in an attempt to prevent it from taking off.
The celebrity was captured on camera standing in front of the aircraft, with ground personnel speaking to him. Seconds later, the Fuji star and the ground personnel were seen dodging the wing of the ValueJet plane as the flight forcefully took off, breaching aviation safety rules.
Responding to the breach, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, on August 6, announced the suspension of 2 pilots over the scary take off which happened at the domestic terminal of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
NCAA revealed that it got reports of a serious breach of aviation safety protocols involving a ValueJet flight, and the pilots were suspended for starting departure procedures from the designated bay without abiding by the compulsory pre-departure clearance protocols.
“This reckless action endangered the safety of ground personnel and other airport users, contravening established civil aviation regulations and international safety standards,” a statement read.
Alongside the suspension of the pilots, NCAA is considering a number of punishments for Kwam 1, including putting him on a “no-fly list” as a result of his unsettling misconduct.
If the authority bans the singer from boarding commercial flights, his many international and local engagements will be affected.
