Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy is set to feature alongside Colombian global icon Shakira on the official song for the 2026 FIFA World Cup titled Dai Dai.
The anthem will be officially released on Thursday, May 14, ahead of the tournament, which will be hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
Shakira confirmed the collaboration in a teaser posted online, saying: “From Maracanã Stadium, here is ‘Dai Dai,’ the official FIFA World Cup 2026 song. Coming 5/14. We’re ready! ⚽️🐺 @burnaboy.”
The upcoming release makes Burna Boy the second Nigerian artist to be featured on an official World Cup song, following Davido’s appearance on Hayya Hayya (Better Together) for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The 2026 edition of the tournament, part of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, is scheduled to run from June 11 to July 19. The opening match is expected to take place at Estadio Azteca, while the final will be held at MetLife Stadium.
Burna Boy’s participation further strengthens his growing presence in global football entertainment. He has previously been involved in UEFA Champions League-related projects and performed at the 2023 final in Turkey.
It is still unclear whether both artistes will perform Dai Dai live at the World Cup opening ceremony or during the final next summer.
