Tony Mwaba Kazadi, the Minister of Primary, Secondary, and Technical Education (EPST) in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), has acknowledged impregnating his Deputy Minister, Aminata Namasia, describing it as an “accidental” occurrence.

Local reports have revealed that Kazadi and Namasia, both of whom are married, developed romantic feelings for each other while working together in the DRC education ministry.

According to DRC journalist Lungila John, who shared the information on Twitter, their affair resulted in the pregnancy of the deputy education minister.

The revelation has drawn strong criticism from the citizens of the DRC, who condemn Kazadi and Namasia’s immoral and inappropriate behaviour.

Expressing their dismay, one Congolese citizen, Archy Lema, referred to their actions as a disgrace to the country, stating that Namasia is unfit to educate young women in the nation.

Another citizen commented that politicians, especially Kazadi and Namasia, who wish to be addressed as “excellencies” or “honorables,” should have exhibited more exemplary and honorable conduct, considering their popularity and wealth compared to many other Congolese individuals.

It is worth noting that Namasia was appointed as the National Deputy Minister of Primary, Secondary, and Technical Education in the Democratic Republic of Congo under Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde’s cabinet on April 12, 2021.
