COREN Elects Zubair As New President

The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) has elected Professor Abubakar Sadiq Zubair as the new president. Zubair will succeed Engr Ali Alimasuya Rabiu who has served the council meritoriously.
In a statement issued by head of public relations, Haruna Ojonugwa, he said COREN at its extraordinary council meeting held on April 13, 2023, elected Zubair as the president of COREN.
The new COREN president, Abubakar Sadiq is a Professor of Agricultural & Bio-resource Engineering. A graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he obtained his first degree (Agricultural Engineering) , second degree (Agricultural Engineering) and third degree (Irrigation and Drainage Engineering).
He obtained postgraduate diplomas from International Institute for Soils and Water Management, Agricultural Research Organisation (ARO), Tel-aviv, Israel; International Centre for Tropical Agricultural and Development (CIRAD), Montpellier, France and the Institute for Agricultural Development, Tsukuba and Tokyo International Centres, Japan, MANAGE Institute, Hyderabad in India, AFRACA in Kenya, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, USA, respectively.
Abubakar joined the service of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1988 as assistant lecturer and extension specialist and posted to NAERLS. He was attached to the Institute for Agricultural Research and Department of Agric & Bio-resource Engineering.
He was appointed to the professorial rank in Agricultural & Bio-resource Engineering in 2005.
