The public offer for Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals has officially commenced on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), with the shares priced at N525 each.
President and Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, marked the commencement of the offer by ringing the opening bell at the NGX trading floor in Lagos on Monday, September 14, 2026.
The transaction is being described as a major development for Nigeria’s capital market, as Dangote Refinery becomes the first refinery in the 66-year history of the Nigerian Exchange to offer its shares for public subscription.
The offer consists of 4.1 billion new ordinary shares at N525 per share, giving investors an opportunity to acquire an equity stake in what is described as Africa’s largest refinery.
Retail and institutional investors, as well as other eligible investors across Africa, can participate in the offer. The minimum subscription is 10 shares, meaning investors can participate with N5,250 at the offer price.
The public offer opened on September 14, 2026, and is scheduled to close on October 13, 2026, subject to the terms and conditions contained in the offer prospectus.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Dangote said the public offer was part of a wider plan to increase public participation in the ownership of companies within his business group.
He said, “We will lease every company that we operate.”
The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, members of the Dangote family and representatives of Nigeria’s capital market.
The commencement of the offer provides investors with an opportunity to subscribe for shares in Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals through the Nigerian capital market.
