Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Industries Limited, has said having a male child to carry on his family name has never been a major priority for him.
The billionaire businessman said he is content with his three daughters, Mariya, Halima and Fatima, adding that he does not believe a son would have performed better than them.
Dangote, 69, made the remarks during an interview with Arise News on Tuesday while speaking about his family, succession plans and the future of his wealth.
He explained that he believes God determines what people receive in life and warned against forcing things that may not be meant to happen.
According to him, having a son does not automatically guarantee the preservation of a family’s name or legacy.
He said he was satisfied with his daughters and believed they had done well.
Dangote’s comments come amid growing discussions about how his vast business empire and wealth will be managed in the future.
Speaking on plans for his estate, the businessman confirmed that his family had signed an agreement providing that one-third of his wealth would be transferred to the Dangote Foundation for philanthropic activities after his death.
He explained that the arrangement was designed to ensure that a significant portion of his wealth would continue to benefit people through charitable activities.
Dangote also shared advice for young Nigerians who want to succeed in business and other areas of life.
He urged young people to work hard, remain consistent and focused, and avoid trying to pursue too many things at the same time.
He advised them to clearly identify what they want to achieve, remain patient and avoid rushing the process of becoming successful.
