Lawmaker and Nollywood actor, Desmond Elliot, has apologised to the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, following controversies linked to political tensions in Lagos State.
The apology was made during an appearance on TVC’s Your View on Friday, where Elliot admitted that misunderstandings may have occurred during recent political developments, especially surrounding the Lagos State House of Assembly leadership crisis.
Recall that Gbajabiamila had earlier revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu once confronted him over reports alleging Elliot’s involvement in the Assembly speakership tussle — an allegation he denied.
Reacting to the issue, Elliot described Gbajabiamila as his political mentor and elder brother, stressing that he never intended to disrespect him.
According to him, he learnt politics under the former Speaker and still holds him in high regard.
The Surulere lawmaker stated that misunderstandings are inevitable in politics and appealed for forgiveness over any action that may have caused offence.
He also extended an apology to the political matriarch of Surulere, asking for forgiveness if he had offended her in any way.
Despite the controversy, Elliot maintained that he remains committed to strengthening the All Progressives Congress and continuing developmental projects in Surulere.
He insisted that his achievements and contributions to the constituency remain visible to residents.
The Lagos Assembly leadership crisis had earlier sparked internal disagreements within the APC before party leaders intervened to restore calm.
