The Senate President Godswill Akpabio has celebrated heartfelt congratulations to Nigeria’s female basketball team, D’Tigress for securing a historic seventh FIBA 2025 Women’s AfroBasket title, marking their fifth consecutive championship.
He recently hailed the team’s incredible achievement in Abidjan, and Nigerians have been reacting.
Speaking via his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio disclosed that their victory underscores the exceptional capabilities and committed spirit of Nigerian women in all of their endeavours.
According to him, within 2 weeks, Nigerian women have done the nation proud with the Super Falcons’ triumph and with D’Tigress defeating Senegal in the semifinals and Mali in the finals.
He applauded the team for embodying Nigeria’s values of discipline, resilience, stressing that the women did not stop pursuing excellence despite the challenges faced.
“This seventh historic and fifth consecutive title has reinforced the zeal for hard work and the relentless craving for success in any assignment we are saddled with.
The Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is clearly working, and with the support of Nigerians, our country will be a better place,” he said.
The Senate president further appreciated the D’Tigress and their technical crew for serving as role models to young Nigerian girls who intend to chase a career in sports.
He concluded by congratulating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for another successful sports outing during his tenure.
“I want to sincerely thank the D’Tigress and their technical crew for once again making us proud and serving as a source of inspiration to our young girls intending to pursue a career in sports.
