The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), Abdulrasheed Abdullahi Maina, wanted over an alleged case of receiving stolen property.
The anti-graft agency announced the development on Wednesday, identifying Maina as a 61-year-old indigene of Biu, Borno State.
The EFCC urged anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact any of its offices nationwide, the nearest police station or other security agencies.
The commission listed its offices in Abuja, Lagos, Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Gombe and Port Harcourt as points where information could be provided.
Maina, who previously headed the now-defunct Pension Reform Task Team, has been prosecuted by the EFCC over allegations relating to pension funds.
According to the EFCC, Maina was convicted in November 2021 on a 12-count charge involving money laundering, fictitious bank accounts and fraud connected to about ₦2 billion.
The commission said he was sentenced to a cumulative 61 years in prison, with the terms running concurrently, and was ordered to refund ₦1 billion to the Federal Government.
The EFCC had previously declared Maina wanted in connection with allegations of pension fraud and money laundering.
