XEJET-operated Enugu Air has expanded its fleet with the acquisition of an Embraer 195 aircraft, reinforcing the airline’s dedication to providing safe, dependable and efficient air transport across Nigeria.
In an official statement, the carrier expressed gratitude to Governor Peter Mbah for his continued support, noting that “his commitment to aviation development continues to strengthen connectivity and economic growth in the region.”
The new aircraft represents a significant milestone as Enugu Air works to establish itself as a reliable option for Nigerian travelers.
The airline commenced commercial operations on July 7, 2025, from Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu, offering initial routes to Abuja and Lagos.
Currently operating without an Air Operator Certificate (AOC), the state-owned carrier launched services with three Embraer aircraft (E170/E190 models).
At the inaugural launch event, Governor Mbah remarked: “Today, we have our own airline. And with it, we’re opening doors to a sector that once felt out of reach. Enugu Air has given more wings to our dreams, and today, we take that first flight together.
“This represents a giant leap for Enugu State and sets a gold standard for public-private partnership. In celebrating this achievement, we must acknowledge our chosen operator, XE Jet Airlines—a 100 percent Nigerian-owned company with a proven track record of reliable, sustainable and successful aviation operations.”
