Funke Akindele‘s latest film “Everybody Loves Jenifa” has made history in West African cinema, racing to a remarkable ₦1 billion (approximately $1.1 million) in box office earnings within just 19 days of its release. The movie has dominated the December box office, capturing 40% of total revenue with over 200,000 ticket admissions across Nigeria and Ghana.
The achievement solidifies Akindele’s position as a powerhouse in African filmmaking, with the movie now holding the record for the fastest film to reach the ₦1 billion milestone in the region. The film’s success has extended beyond West Africa, with screenings also taking place in the United Kingdom and United States.
Celebrating the milestone on social media, the award-winning actress and producer expressed gratitude to fans, attributing the success to divine intervention and encouraging continued support for the film, which remains in theatres nationwide.
