The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has debunked claims that Uber, Bolt and other e-hailing platforms have been banned from operating at airports across the country.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the agency’s management addressed growing concerns over reported restrictions placed on e-hailing services at some of the airports under its control.

FAAN explained that it was not attempting to limit passengers’ choice of transportation or push e-hailing operators out of the airport space. Rather, it said the goal was to ensure that all commercial transport operators within airport premises comply with regulations designed to protect security, safeguard passengers and maintain smooth operations.

“FAAN wishes to clarify that its position is not, and has never been, directed at limiting passengers’ access to transportation options or undermining the important role that e-hailing services play in providing convenient mobility to air travellers.”

The agency further stated that such services must be identifiable, accountable and properly integrated into the airport’s operational and security framework.

FAAN also addressed comparisons with ACHRAMS, noting that the platform is not an e-hailing application and was never designed to compete with or replicate services offered by Uber, Bolt or similar platforms.
