Popular rapper and Nigerian activist, Falz, has revealed that he has never loved a woman romantically.
Speaking during her appearance on the inaugural live edition of “WithChude” podcast, the rapper said that he has never given his heart out to any lady, and he does not even know what it feels like to be heartbroken.
According to him, the reason he has never experienced heartbreak is because he has never been in a situation where he presented his heart to the opposite sex for it to be broken, and he does not consider that reality a sad thing.
Falz revealed that while many might say he is grown enough to have experienced what having feelings for someone feels like, he just hasn’t reached that stage with any lady yet, despite not being devoid of emotion.
The rapper noted that he has definitely liked women beyond a friendship level in the past, but he has never been in love with any of them, or gotten close to falling in love.
“I have never been heartbroken. If you don’t put your legs inside water, can you drown? I haven’t presented my heart that much to be broken. I have been giving small of it ooo.
But in a romantic way, I have never told somebody ‘I love you’. It is not a sad thing, I’m not devoid of emotion, don’t get it twisted. I have said, oh I really really like you. I just haven’t said ‘I’m in love with you,” he said.
Speaking on the main reason behind his activism, Folarin Falana said that even if his friends constantly warn him to stay out of political issues, he just cannot help himself, especially because it is impossible for him to keep silent about things he feels strongly about.
Falz concluded by saying that the #EndSARS period was a very tough phase in his life, but he does not regret participating in it at all, since he was raised to never regret doing what he believes is right.
“People warn me all the time. Friends say: ‘You better stay out of these things oh.’
But I’m the kind of artist who draws inspiration from my environment.
I can’t help it. I feel these things so deeply that it becomes impossible not to talk about them.
That #EndSARS period was one of the craziest and toughest times of my life. But I don’t regret it at all.
I was taught never to regret doing what I believe is right.
And the protest, the struggle, the connection we all felt — it was monumental. I’m grateful I participated.
The same people you’re fighting for will fight you.
I’m not doing it for anybody specifically. It’s about what I feel strongly about. It’s about compassion. It’s about humanity,” he added.
