Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has officially received his Letters of Credence as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Lesotho and Eswatini, paving the way for him to resume his new diplomatic post.
Fani-Kayode disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, noting that the development came after the required agrément was granted by the host countries.
According to him, the letters were presented on behalf of President Bola Tinubu by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye.
The former aviation minister said he would now proceed to Pretoria, where he is expected to formally present his letter of credence to South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
“I shall begin the process of reporting to Pretoria, presenting my letter of credence to His Excellency President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa and starting the great and important work that lies ahead,” he said.
Fani-Kayode, who served as Minister of Aviation about two decades ago, described his new appointment as another opportunity to serve the country.
He expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the confidence reposed in him, asking for the prayers of well-meaning Nigerians as he takes up the role.
