Actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo has achieved a major milestone in Nollywood after his film Agesinkole 2 earned N417 million in 12 days through community cinema screenings.
Announcing the achievement on Instagram Tuesday, Femi described the success as a historic moment for the industry. “What started as a bold idea became a movement. What many doubted became a monumental chapter in Nollywood history,” he wrote.
Agesinkole 2 became the first Nollywood film to be screened exclusively in community cinemas, marking a new distribution model for the industry. Femi emphasized that the success demonstrates how collaboration between purpose-driven organizations can reshape Nollywood’s future.
The film ran in community cinemas across Western Nigeria from December 24, 2025 to January 4, 2026, with tickets priced at N4,000 in Lagos and N3,000 in other states.
Agesinkole 2 is the sequel to the 2022 Yoruba epic King of Thieves (Agẹṣinkólé), which earned over N320 million. The cast features Yemi Solade, Bimbo Akintola, Gabriel Afolayan, Segun Arinze, Odunlade Adekola, Ibrahim Yekini, Biola Adebayo, and Jaye Kuti. The film was produced by Femi Adebayo, Kelechi Okoro, and Imade Bibowei-Osuobeni.
