The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has terminated the employment of 43 personnel following serious infractions including desertion, scandalous conduct, and patrol-related violations.
According to a statement released Thursday by Assistant Corps Marshal Olusegun Ogungbemide, the Corps Public Education Officer, the dismissed officers include 31 who abandoned their posts, five involved in scandalous behaviour, and seven guilty of patrol misconduct.
Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed described the mass dismissal as a firm demonstration of the agency’s zero-tolerance approach to indiscipline and ethical breaches within its ranks.
“The FRSC badge represents honour and responsibility. Any officer who violates our institutional standards will face the full force of our disciplinary procedures,” Mohammed stated, emphasizing that the Corps operates as a professional paramilitary organization with strict operational protocols.
The Corps Marshal highlighted that desertion constitutes a serious violation of service obligations, particularly for an organization responsible for safeguarding millions of road users daily. He added that scandalous conduct and patrol misconduct undermine public trust and contradict the Corps’ core values of discipline, transparency, and service excellence.
The FRSC has pledged to enhance internal oversight mechanisms, strengthen supervisory structures, and promote ethical awareness across all commands nationwide. The agency also appealed to the motoring public to maintain confidence in its operations and continue supporting its road safety mandate.
