Popular Fuji musician Saheed Okunola, famously known as Saheed Osupa, has publicly admitted to using traditional spiritual practices, often referred to as juju, to aid his success in life.
The revelation came during a performance at the 52nd birthday celebration of veteran Nollywood actor Fatai Odua (Lalude) on March 30, 2026. A video of the event, which surfaced online on Wednesday, shows Osupa speaking humorously to his backup singers on stage.
During the performance, Osupa advised his backup team to adopt spiritual practices to boost their memory, noting that it could help them keep up with his lyrics. He emphasized that such practices are meant for personal well-being and do not make anyone a “fetish” practitioner.
He also revealed that he had previously been advised to publicly deny involvement in supernatural practices but refused, stating:
“Somebody told me one time to grant an interview denying that I’m a fetish person, but I told him that I am. I didn’t harm anyone with my juju; I’m only seeking ways to progress. Nothing more.”
Osupa disclosed that he regularly pays homage to Ifa, a traditional Yoruba spiritual system, as part of his daily practice:
“That’s why anytime I wake, I always pay obeisance to my Ifa. I don’t know the deity beyond it, but it is worth paying homage to.”
He also joked about his methods, saying, “If I don’t engage in voodoo, what else should I have employed? Is it Phensic or Panadol that will make me successful?”
The Fuji legend further pointed out that many people practice similar spiritual rituals privately, while he chooses to be open about it:
“Everybody practises voodoo. While some hide behind the scenes, I do mine openly. All those claims that I rely solely on the Bible and Quran are pure lies.”
