Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel, representing Ogun East Senatorial District, chaired a major technical session at the 34th Engineering Assembly of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), reaffirming his commitment to advancing engineering and infrastructure development across the country.
The former Ogun State governor presided over discussions held in Abuja, where engineering professionals, government officials and industry stakeholders explored innovative solutions, sustainable infrastructure and the future of engineering practice in Nigeria.
The annual gathering attracted several top government officials and political leaders, including the Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, who represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Others in attendance were Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, Minister of Regional Development Abubakar Momoh, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Dr. Kingsley Udeh, former Osun State Deputy Governor Senator Iyiola Omisore, Senator Patrick Ndubueze and other key stakeholders.
During the event, COREN President, Prof. Sadiq Abubakar, alongside the Council’s Vice President and Chairman of the Main Organising Committee, Engr. Olu Ogunduyile, praised Daniel for his lasting contributions to the engineering profession and national development.
They commended the senator for supporting policies aimed at raising engineering standards, improving infrastructure and promoting professionalism within the sector.
Daniel, a trained engineer and former governor, has remained actively involved in national discussions on infrastructure development and public policy. His appointment to chair one of the assembly’s technical sessions reflected the confidence and respect he enjoys within Nigeria’s engineering community.
The 34th COREN Engineering Assembly focused on innovation, sustainable infrastructure, technological advancement and the critical role of engineering in driving Nigeria’s economic growth and national development. Daniel’s leadership at the event was widely recognised as one of the key highlights of the gathering.
