Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has revealed that his government has increased efforts to provide basic infrastructure and guarantee a conducive business environment for residents.
He recently disclosed that more industries have been established in the state since 2019 than under previous governments.
Speaking while receiving the Distinguished Visionary Leadership Award by the Foreign Investment Network (FIN) for his special leadership style and unrelenting efforts to make Ogun the home of thriving Nigerian businesses, Dapo Abiodun said that Ogun is currently one of the 6 selected states where Special Agro Processing Zones were created in the country, in partnership with the Federal Government, African Development Bank, African Export-Import Bank, and Islamic Bank.
He revealed that his government didn’t hesitate to collaborate with private sector players for the quick take-off of the zone, and not only was a Business Environment Council established to work alongside the State Investment and Facilitation Agency as a one-stop shop, computerized tax payment has also been launched to get rid of multiple taxations that complicate the ease of doing business.
“This administration has improved the transportation sector by constructing over 1,200 kilometers of roads in six years. We have built the best-equipped airport in Nigeria, and this airport is centrally located.
We have adopted a multimodal transport system that incorporates air, road, sea, and rail lines. We are extending a rail line that stopped at Agbado to Ogun State,” he said.
He then called on investors to seize the several agricultural, manufacturing, and power generation opportunities in the state, while appealing to the Foreign Investment Network (FIN) to help flaunt Ogun’s potential to relevant markets across the globe.
He concluded by confirming that Foreign Investment Network (FIN) would be involved in planning the proposed State Economic Summit, as that would surely make it an event to remember.
As she presented the Distinguished Visionary Leadership Award to the governor alongside her business delegation at the Governor’s Office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Chairperson of Foreign Investment Network (FIN), Dr. Olayinka Fayomi, applauded Ogun State for overseeing an incredible level of economic development that deserves commendation and recognition.
