Dr. Dauda Lawal, Governor of Zamfara State, received the New Telegraph Governor of the Year Award for Projects at a ceremony held at Oriental Hotel, Lekki, Lagos on Friday, February 13, 2026. The recognition follows closely on the heels of a similar honor from Leadership Newspaper just one day earlier.
The award was presented by Aremo Olusegun Osoba, former Ogun State Governor and APC stalwart, alongside Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, New Telegraph Publisher and former Abia State Governor. Both commended Governor Lawal’s investments in education, road infrastructure, agriculture, security, and human capacity development—sectors driving Zamfara’s infrastructural and economic transformation.
Organizers cited the governor’s track record of delivering impactful projects and fostering sustainable development as key factors behind the selection. His administration’s transparency, financial discipline, and strong budget execution have established new governance benchmarks for the state.
Accepting the award, Governor Lawal reflected on his campaign pledge to reverse years of infrastructural decay. He pointed to visible improvements across Zamfara, noting his administration’s efforts to modernize the civil service and leverage technology for better governance.
The governor reaffirmed his commitment to completing all ongoing projects to high standards and continuing the state’s development trajectory. He dedicated the award to Zamfara’s residents, thanking them for their trust and support, which he described as central to his administration’s success and vision for a prosperous future.
