The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat, has successfully scaled the screening stage of the All Progressives Congress (APC), earning clearance to contest in the party’s governorship primary ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Naija News reports that Hamzat appeared before the APC screening committee on Saturday, May 9, in Abuja, where he was approved to proceed to the next stage of the party’s selection process.
Following the exercise, the Lagos governorship aspirant expressed satisfaction with the outcome, describing the clearance as an important step forward in his political journey.
He also reiterated his readiness to build on existing achievements in Lagos State, expressing confidence in his vision for further development and inclusiveness.
Taking to his 𝕏 account, Hamzat wrote: “Today in Abuja, I appeared before the APC Governorship Screening Committee ahead of our party primaries. I am grateful for the clean bill of approval and clearance to move forward.
“This journey is about service and a commitment to all Lagosians. We have built a solid foundation and now we are ready to take the next step toward a greater and more inclusive Lagos.
“The work continues and I am ready to keep moving forward with you.”
