The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has said that he doesn’t need more than four years to deliver good governance for all Nigerians.
He recently revealed that 4 years is more than enough for him to show the direction of good governance.
Speaking as he reiterated his single-term proposal on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics programme, Obi stated that if the current government can inflict maximum damage in just 2 years, he can definitely reverse their wrongs in 2 years as well.
According to him, Nigerians are clearly crying out for a president who cares and will show compassion, and he is more than ready to heed their calls and be the leader the country needs.
“I don’t need a day more than four years. I will show the direction of good governance.
In two years, there have been maximum damage. Two years can change it in a good direction. People want to get up and see a president that cares, that shows compassion,” he said.
He further noted that being a part of the coalition of opposition parties, which recently adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its platform ahead of the 2027 elections, is not an act of disloyalty.
Confirming that he remains a member of the Labour Party, Obi disclosed that his decision to join the ADC did not signal his exit from LP.
He concluded by saying that the aim of the ADC is for opposition politicians to come together to right the APC’s many wrongs.
:There is nothing anti-party in the decision. We are not abandoning where we are. We are going there together. What is constant is that we have agreed to work together,” he added.
