The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed that Lagos, Kano and Kaduna currently have the highest number of registered voters ahead of the 2027 general elections.
INEC Chairman, Joash Amupitan, made this known on Tuesday in Abuja, stating that the country’s national register of voters has risen to 110 million.
Amupitan said the figure was recorded after the completion of the three phases of the commission’s voter registration exercise.
According to him, the latest figure further strengthens Nigeria’s position as the largest democracy in Africa.
“The national register of voters now stands at 110 million, making Nigeria the largest democracy in Africa,” Amupitan said.
Lagos State currently leads the voter register with 7,488,633 registered voters.
Kano State follows with 6,570,276 voters, while Kaduna occupies third position with 4,662,640 registered voters.
Other states among the top 10 are Katsina, with 3,876,051 voters, and Rivers, which has 3,736,434.
