Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres has said that the consistent reports about his future are nothing but clickbait.
He recently shared that the media is just coming up with anything nowadays to keep the cycle going.
Speaking to Vogue Scandinavia, the Swede revealed that there is sports news 24/7 on the internet, so the press keeps coming up with different topics to keep the fans engaged.
“Clickbait. These days, there’s sports news 24 hours a day. They come up with topics to keep the cycle going,” he said.
Dropping a potential hint about his future, Gyokeres also claimed that he would find it hard to play in a cold country again after living in Portugal.
According to him, in Sweden, where he is from, people work extra hard during the week and only socialize on the weekend, while in Portugal, people are comfortable enough to hang out with their loved ones on a Monday.
The forward insists that he loves the comfort a hot country like Portugal provides, and it’ll be tough to readjust to a colder environment.
“In Sweden, people work hard during the week and only socialize on the weekend. Here, it’s much livelier during the week. You have dinner with friends and have a glass of wine on Monday. I like that. After living in a hot country, it would be difficult [to return to a colder country],” he added.
Gyokeres has been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Manchester United, Arsenal, and Chelsea all touted as potential suitors for the prolific Sweden international.
He ended the season with 39 goals in 33 games in the league, as well as six goals in eight games in the Champions League.
The goalscorer has a decision to make this summer as many top clubs are in search for reliable strikers.
