Nigerian-British actor John Boyega has revealed that he is in discussions with filmmaker Genevieve Nnaji for a potential movie collaboration.
During a panel at the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF), Boyega praised Genevieve’s talent, describing her performances as “subtle” and “versatile.” Sharing his admiration, the Woman King actor said, “Genevieve Nnaji is the Nollywood actress who inspired me. She’s my favorite Nollywood actress. Growing up, I watched her alongside Omotola Jalade, and there’s something truly unique about her acting.”
He further explained what makes Genevieve stand out, saying, “Her acting ability, to me, could transcend any type of filmmaking. She has a way of conveying emotion subtly; she doesn’t need to say much to make an impact.
“Film is such an intimate medium—unlike theatre, it doesn’t require exaggerated expressions for an audience. Instead, it captures close, personal moments, and Genevieve has mastered that skill.”
Boyega also hinted at their upcoming collaboration, saying, “I’ve spoken with Genevieve, and we’re working on bringing her on board.”
This isn’t the first time Boyega has expressed admiration for Nigerian talent. In 2023, he named Wizkid as his favorite artist.
